Academic verification
Undergraduate and postgraduate diploma and transcript checks. The AP subject and the tutor's academic field must overlap directly. AP Calculus tutors hold mathematics degrees; AP Chemistry tutors hold chemistry degrees.
Pedagogical assessment
A written assessment covering AP curriculum mastery, solving the last 5 years of FRQs, and applying the College Board rubric to sample student responses.
Trial lesson
A 60-minute trial lesson with an existing TestPrep student. Both the student's feedback and our academic director's observation are reviewed before the offer.

The shared standard every tutor follows
Tutors come from different specialisms but every TestPrep lesson follows the same pedagogical structure. That standard keeps diagnosis, weekly planning, FRQ feedback and mock-paper review consistent regardless of who you are paired with.
First lesson: diagnosis
We map prior knowledge, agree the target score and exam date, and run a short AP Classroom diagnostic.
Weekly plan
The 8-month curriculum is broken into weekly modules with a mini-quiz at the end of each week.
FRQ practice
At least two past FRQs at the end of every unit, marked against the official College Board rubric.
Mock exam window
Three full-length mock exams in March and April under exam conditions, with a detailed analysis report.

How are TestPrep tutors selected?
Every applicant goes through a three-stage process: (1) verification of undergraduate and postgraduate diplomas and transcripts, (2) a written pedagogical assessment on AP topics and FRQ marking, and (3) a trial lesson with an existing student plus a feedback review. Only candidates who pass all three stages join the faculty.
Does a tutor teach more than one AP subject?
No. Every tutor on our faculty teaches a single AP subject that maps directly to their academic field. For example, a mathematics graduate teaches AP Calculus and is never assigned a different AP. This ensures every lesson is delivered by a genuine subject specialist.
How do you verify your tutors' AP experience?
Tutors' AP subject and academic field always overlap. We additionally check subject-specific AP teaching experience, FRQ-marking practice against the College Board rubric, and the standard of feedback they give students after timed work.
Can I change tutor mid-programme?
Yes. If after the first lesson you don't feel the tutor is the right fit, we will pair you with another tutor who teaches the same AP — at no extra cost. Our 100% refund policy covers the first lesson if you are not satisfied.
Do all tutors speak English fluently?
Every AP we run is available with native English-speaking tutors. For language APs (Spanish, French, Chinese), native speakers of the target language are available. You can specify your preference at registration.
What materials do tutors use?
The standard set: Princeton Review AP Premium, Barron's AP series, College Board AP Classroom Personal Progress Checks, and the last 10 years of FRQs. Tutors share their own consolidated lesson notes alongside.
