AP Calculus BC Tuition

AP Calculus BC carries the whole AB syllabus plus two further units — parametric, polar and vector-valued functions, and infinite sequences and series — and reports a separate AB subscore alongside the BC grade. Lessons take the series unit on its own with a convergence-test decision tree, then mark Taylor and polar-area past papers against the published rubric.

AP Calculus BC at a glance

AP Calculus BC is AP Calculus AB plus a second semester of university calculus: parametric, polar, vector functions, series, and additional integration techniques. The exam shares the AB structure of MCQ and FRQ with calculator-active and calculator-banned parts. We build BC on top of secure AB foundations, then drill the BC-only units — series convergence in particular — against past-paper FRQs.

What this AP tests

What AP Calculus BC actually tests

AP Calculus BC tests everything in AB plus convergence and divergence of infinite series (including Taylor and Maclaurin series), parametric and polar calculus, vector-valued functions, and integration techniques such as integration by parts and partial fractions.

On the BC paper, students must reason about whether a series converges, where a Taylor approximation is valid, and how to bound an error — all with explicit justification.

Where students lose marks

Common ways students drop points

  • Series questions where the convergence test is named but the conditions of the test are not verified.
  • Taylor/Maclaurin series problems where the error bound (Lagrange or alternating series remainder) is omitted.
  • Parametric motion problems where dy/dx is computed but speed (|v|) is given without the correct derivative chain.
  • Polar area calculations where the integration limits are set incorrectly.
  • AB-style FRQ errors that carry over — units, justification language, notation.
How tutoring helps

How TestPrep tuition closes AP Calculus BC gaps

  • AB readiness diagnostic before BC content begins.

  • Series unit drilled separately with a convergence-tests decision tree.

  • Past-paper Taylor/Maclaurin FRQs marked against the AP rubric.

  • Parametric/polar/vector drills aligned to past BC questions.

  • Full timed mock papers in March/April with subscored AB + BC results.

AP vs A Level vs IB

How AP Calculus BC compares to A Level and IB

AP Calculus BC reaches further than A Level Mathematics on its own and overlaps strongly with IB Mathematics: Analysis & Approaches HL on calculus and series. UK applicants to top US engineering and physics programmes are usually expected to present BC rather than AB. Within Europe, BC pairs well with Further Maths A Level or IB HL.

Who this course suits

Is AP Calculus BC the right AP for you?

Best fit

Students who already have strong A Level / IB calculus foundations and are applying for STEM courses at competitive US universities.

Sprint mode

BC-ready students who specifically need series and parametric/polar consolidation before May.

Approach with care

Students who have not yet seen integration by parts or convergence — they should consider AB first.

Quick Answers

AP Calculus BC tuition — short answers to common questions

Direct answers to the questions students and parents ask most often.

How much does AP Calculus BC tuition cost?

AP Calculus BC 1-to-1 tuition starts from €56 per lesson, with the per-lesson rate dropping in the 10- and 20-lesson packages. The small group course covers the full academic year (8 months / 50 lessons + 10 mock exams) for €1,506, the same content as the 1:1 Full Course Package and 29% cheaper than it. See /pricing for current packages and instalment options.

Can I jump straight to AP Calculus BC?

Only if your AB-equivalent topics are solid. We start every BC programme with an AB diagnostic; if the student is below 70% on AB FRQs, we recommend covering AB first or running AB and BC in parallel.

Is AP Calculus BC equivalent to first-year university calculus?

BC roughly covers Calculus I and II as taught at most US universities. A 5 on BC typically earns credit or placement for both semesters at many institutions, although policies vary.

How much harder is the BC exam than AB?

The AB content is the same and weighted similarly. The BC paper adds series, parametric/polar, vector, and harder integration. In practice the time pressure on FRQ is the bigger jump rather than the difficulty of any individual question.

Who is AP Calculus BC tuition for?

AP Calculus BC tuition suits sixth-form and high-school students sitting AP exams worldwide. Whether you are doing A Levels, IB, an American diploma or a national curriculum, our online format works across international time zones.

What is the difference between 1-to-1 tutoring and the small group course?

1-to-1 tutoring is fully bespoke and runs at your pace. The small group course caps at six students, runs to a fixed weekly schedule across an academic year, and covers the full AP Calculus BC CED at a lower cost than private tutoring.

How many units are in the AP Calculus BC exam?

The AP Calculus BC exam follows the College Board CED and is built around 10 core units. Our lessons cover every unit from first principles to exam level, then consolidate with MCQ and FRQ mock papers.

When does the AP Calculus BC group course start?

The AP Calculus BC small group course starts on Monday, 28 September 2026 and runs until Monday, 26 April 2027, with 50 sessions in total (40 lessons + 10 review/mock sessions) on a fixed weekly schedule.

AP Calculus BC lessons built around your weak spots

Catch-up, score lift and exam-window revision — built around AP-style MCQ and FRQ practice.

I am behind — can I catch up?

Yes. We map the AP Calculus BC units that matter most for your target score and exam date, then prioritise topic repair over re-teaching everything.

I want a 4 or 5 — how do lessons help?

Lessons focus on AP-style MCQs and FRQs taken from past papers, with rubric-aligned feedback on every written answer.

Will I get feedback on real AP-style work?

Yes. Weekly homework includes timed AP-style sets that your tutor marks against the College Board rubric, with written notes on partial credit.

Can I focus only on my weak units?

Yes. Short revision plans of 10–20 lessons are common, especially in the months before May. We rebuild the plan as the diagnostic reveals new gaps.
